McGuire Tract

This tract, located in Franklin County, Virginia, is owned by Freddy and Amy McGuire. We began our relationship with these landowners by first preparing a Forest Stewardship Plan for them. Afterwards, we facilitated a small timber sale on the property, for the express purpose of improving wildlife habitat. As the harvest was winding up, an excavation contractor was hired to clear several of the recently cut areas so that wildlife food plots could be created. The addition of these open areas, as well as the clearcut acreage, will be a tremendous benefit to the deer and turkey. Game animals such as these require variability within their habitat, and a timber harvest can be an excellent means of providing it. The money generated by selling timber can be used to create and maintain wildlife food plots, construct access roads, and perform many, many other beneficial management activities.

If you're a turkey hunter, or just curious, be sure to visit the McGuire's website at www.vaturkey.com for some excellent information and lots of great pictures.

Also, check this page often- we'll be adding content from time to time to document the success of these food plots!
